Why is individual responsibility important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Individual responsibility enables believers to focus on their own relationship with Christ rather than judging others.

In John 21, Jesus addressed Peter's concern about John's future with the poignant statement, 'What is that to thee? Follow me.' This illustrates the importance of individual responsibility in the Christian life. Each believer has a unique call and set of gifts from God, and our primary focus should be on fulfilling our own responsibilities to follow Christ rather than concerning ourselves with how others serve Him. This mindset fosters unity within the body of Christ and prevents divisions that arise from pride and comparison. When we concentrate on our relationship with God, we become more effective in serving others.
