Why is it dangerous for Christians to be spiritually lethargic?

Answered in 1 source

Spiritual lethargy is dangerous for Christians because it hinders our ability to serve, resist temptation, and engage in the spiritual warfare we face.

The state of spiritual lethargy poses significant dangers for Christians. It leaves believers vulnerable to inaction and makes us susceptible to heedless distractions in a world that is perpetually active. When we become spiritually sleepy, we cannot engage in the warfare set before us with alertness and resolve. The dangers of this state are illustrated throughout scripture; for instance, Proverbs warns that a little sleep and slumber can lead to poverty and ruin. The consequences of spiritual lethargy include a diminished capacity to hear God's voice, impaired judgment, and a weakened faith. Therefore, it’s imperative for believers to remain vigilant and active in their pursuit of Christ, consistently engaging with the means of grace to invigorate their spiritual life.
