Why is it dangerous to be lukewarm in our faith?

The state of being lukewarm in faith is addressed in Revelation 3:15-17, where Christ expresses His disgust with the Laodicean church for being neither cold nor hot. Lukewarmness indicates a dangerous complacency, where one believes they are spiritually rich and in good standing, but in reality, they are 'wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.' The danger lies in failing to recognize one's true spiritual condition, which can lead to a lack of repentance and a distancing from God. Jesus warns believers to be zealous and to repent, as lukewarmness does not inspire true worship or fervent service to the Lord.
