Why is it dangerous to follow false teachings?

Answered in 2 sources

Following false teachings can lead to spiritual deception and ultimately lead a person away from the true gospel.

The Bible warns extensively against false prophets and teachings that deviate from the truth of scripture. In 2 Peter 2:1, it states that false teachers will emerge and introduce destructive heresies, which can ensnare even those who once appeared to be believers. These teachings promise freedom but instead lead to bondage, leading professing Christians to a worse state than before (2 Peter 2:20). Therefore, it is essential for Christians to remain vigilant and anchored in the truth of God's Word to avoid such deception.
