Why is it dangerous to have a partial religious reformation?

Answered in 1 source

A partial reformation can lead to a more severe state of unbelief and spiritual emptiness.

Matthew 12 presents a sobering warning against the dangers of a superficial reformation. Jesus illustrates this with the parable of a man from whom an unclean spirit had departed, only for it to return with seven others more wicked than before. This serves as a metaphor for Israel's spiritual state at Christ's time, marked by an inability to maintain genuine faith and obedience. Churches and individuals who engage in mere external modifications without true conversion risk creating a vacuum for worse sins. The example warns us of the necessity for complete conversion and continual filling with the Holy Spirit to protect against deterioration in faith and practice.
