Why is it dangerous to mix grace and works in the Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Mixing grace and works corrupts the Gospel and undermines the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice.

The tendency to mix grace with human effort undermines the core of the Gospel message. The Old Testament laws forbade mixtures, illustrating a spiritual principle: our righteousness cannot stem from both Christ's works and our own. Paul warns against this blending, as it leads to a corrupted Gospel that dilutes the grace of God. When we introduce our works into the equation, we threaten the integrity of the Gospel, suggesting that Jesus' sacrifice is not sufficient alone for our salvation. Therefore, it’s vital to uphold the purity of the Gospel, preaching Christ and Him crucified without adding any human merit.
