Why is it dangerous to put confidence in church leaders?

Answered in 1 source

Confidence in church leaders can lead to error, as all men, including leaders, are fallible and subject to mistakes.

The scripture teaches us to be wary of placing absolute confidence in any human leader, as even the greatest among them can make significant mistakes. Galatians 2 illustrates this, wherein Peter, despite his esteemed position, acted improperly by withdrawing from Gentiles. This serves as a cautionary tale indicating that our faith should not rely on any pastor, teacher, or church leader but rather on the Word of God alone. The exhortation is clear: cease from man; trust only in God who is infallible.
