Why is it dangerous to seek signs of Christ's return?

Answered in 1 source

Seeking signs can lead to confusion and distraction from the core message of the gospel.

Jesus warned that an 'evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign' (Matthew 16:4). This desire for signs often reflects a lack of faith in God’s promises and can lead to misinterpretation of Scripture. It can distract believers from their primary calling to proclaim the gospel and live in light of His imminent return. Instead of focusing on signs, Christians are encouraged to live holy lives in anticipation of Christ’s return, remaining faithful and diligent in their witness rather than getting caught up in speculative timelines or theories about end times.
