Why is it difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of God?

Answered in 2 sources

The rich often trust in their wealth and self-righteousness, making it difficult for them to recognize their need for grace and the true Gospel.

Jesus addressed the difficulty for the rich to enter the kingdom of God by stating in Mark 10:23-25 that it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to be saved. This reflects the spiritual danger associated with wealth, which can lead individuals to trust in their possessions or perceived righteousness, rather than in God. Those who consider themselves rich in their own standings often misinterpret spiritual truth and dismiss their need for God's grace. The confidence in material wealth can make one complacent about their spiritual state and hinder them from coming to Christ in humility. It is only through the realization of our spiritual poverty and the sufficiency of God's grace that we can truly enter the kingdom of God.
