Why is it essential for believers to reflect God's glory?

Answered in 1 source

Believers reflect God's glory as they embody His character and fulfill their created purpose, drawing others to Him.

Reflecting God's glory is essential for believers because it represents our true identity and purpose as image-bearers of God (Genesis 1:26-27). As humans made in the image of God, we have the unique responsibility to display His character in our interactions and through our lives. Romans 3:23 points out that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, indicating that our failure to reflect His glory has dire consequences. However, through redemption in Christ, believers are enabled to reflect God's glory once again, not by our strength but by the transformative power of the Holy Spirit within us. This reflection impacts those around us, inviting them to witness God's character and glory through our actions, which ultimately brings glory back to God Himself. Therefore, our lives should be marked by love, mercy, and justice—attributes of God's character—so that we can accurately portray His glory in a fallen world.
