Why is it essential for preachers to know God personally?

Answered in 1 source

Preachers must know God personally to authentically convey His message and character to others.

A preacher's personal knowledge of God is fundamental to their ministry because they cannot effectively communicate the gospel without a true relationship with the Lord. As demonstrated in Revelation 10, John had an intimate understanding of Christ, enabling him to share the divine message credibly. This personal relationship equips the preacher to introduce others to Jesus authentically, as they can testify from their own experiences of His grace and majesty. Just as John recognized the voice of Christ, so can preachers who have genuinely encountered Him lead others to a similar recognition. Without this personal encounter, preaching can easily devolve into mere informational discourse devoid of spiritual power and transformative capacity.
