Why is it good for me that I've been afflicted?

Answered in 1 source

Affliction is good because it teaches us God's ways and turns us back to Him.

David expresses in Psalm 119:71, 'It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.' Afflictions serve to expose our self-sufficiency and lead us to deeper understanding and appreciation of God’s word. They help us learn invaluable lessons about our dependence on Christ and the sufficiency of His grace. Through these experiences, believers become more reliant on the Lord and are ultimately transformed into His likeness, learning to trust in Him amidst trials.
