Why is it important for Christians not to boast in their wisdom, strength, or riches?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should not boast in worldly attributes as they cannot secure salvation; instead, glory should be given to God alone (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Jeremiah warns against glorying in human attributes like wisdom, might, and riches (Jeremiah 9:23). Each of these attributes, while not inherently evil, can become a snare if we rely upon them for our relationship with God. The notion is that boasting in our own actions or achievements detracts from the glory due to God alone, who is the true source of wisdom and strength. Instead, believers are called to recognize that all true knowledge and strength come from an understanding of God. This fosters humility and ensures that all boasting is in the Lord and not in ourselves.
