Why is it important for Christians to address offenses?

Answered in 1 source

Addressing offenses is crucial for maintaining unity and growth within the Christian community, as taught in the New Testament.

Addressing offenses among Christians is vital for several reasons. First, as Jesus stated in Luke 17:1-3, offenses will inevitably arise; however, how we respond to them can either contribute to or damage the unity of the church. Matthew 18 provides a clear process for reconciliation, highlighting the importance of direct communication and forgiveness. Moreover, unresolved offenses create division, hinder spiritual growth, and displease God, as He desires His followers to live in harmony with one another. Graciously addressing each other’s faults not only fosters individual spiritual maturity but also reflects the love and forgiveness Christ extends to us, thus witnessing to the world the transformative power of the gospel.
