Why is it important for Christians to avoid false religion?

Answered in 3 sources

Avoiding false religion is crucial as it distorts the truth of the Gospel and obstructs individuals from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

False religion, as exemplified by the Pharisees, not only misrepresents God but actively closes the door to His grace. Jesus warns that these religious leaders do not enter the Kingdom themselves and also prevent others from entering. The stakes are high because adherence to false teachings can lead souls away from the true Gospel, which is about salvation through faith in Christ alone. Recognizing and rejecting false religion is therefore essential for the spiritual health of the church and its members.
