Why is it important for Christians to avoid fear?

Answered in 1 source

Avoiding fear is vital for Christians, as it allows us to trust God and experience His peace.

Fear can hinder our ability to rest in God and trust in His promises. In Psalm 4:8, we see that laying down in peace is linked to God’s assurance of safety. The presence of fear can lead to spiritual unrest, pulling us away from relying on God's promises. As believers, we must remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love. By focusing on the Good Shepherd, we're reminded that we need not be anxious, allowing us instead to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.
