Why is it important for Christians to avoid sexual immorality?

Answered in 3 sources

Avoiding sexual immorality is crucial because it is contrary to our identity in Christ and can lead to a lack of inheritance in the kingdom of God (Ephesians 5:5).

In Ephesians 5:3 and 5:5, Paul explicitly states that sexual immorality and all forms of impurity or covetousness should not even be named among believers. This is important because such behaviors are incompatible with the identity of those who have been redeemed by Christ. Engaging in these practices signifies allegiance to idolatry, ultimately leading to exclusion from the kingdom of God. Christians are called to reflect their new position in Christ by living a life of holiness and righteousness, avoiding behaviors that defile our testimony and displease God.
