Why is it important for Christians to avoid trusting in riches?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting in riches can lead to idolatry and distract from reliance on God's provision.

The Bible warns against trusting in uncertain riches, as seen in 1 Timothy 6:17. This form of trust can easily become a form of idolatry, where our dependence shifts from God to material wealth. Such distractions are harmful, as they can lead to spiritual pride and a false sense of security. Christians are called to seek first the kingdom of God, which reflects reliance on God rather than the temporary comforts that riches provide.
