Why is it important for Christians to be aware of their sufferings?

Answered in 1 source

Being aware of suffering fosters dependence on God and an understanding of His purpose in trials.

The awareness of suffering serves multiple important functions in the life of a believer. First, it keeps us grounded in our mortality and the reality that we are not exempt from troubles, which Jesus stated clearly in John 16:33: 'In the world ye shall have tribulation.' This acknowledgment compels us to lean more heavily on God's grace, as our trials remind us of our need for Him. Additionally, recognizing our sufferings allows us to align with the biblical narrative that many righteous endure tribulations but are promised deliverance. It teaches Christians to respond to hardships with worship and trust in God's sovereignty, which ultimately becomes a testament to His faithfulness and glory.
