Why is it important for Christians to believe in Christ?

Answered in 4 sources

Believing in Christ is essential for salvation and eternal life, as He is the only way through which we can be reconciled to God.

Belief in Christ is central to the Christian faith because He is the sole mediator between God and humanity, as stated in 1 Timothy 2:5. Without faith in Jesus, there can be no assurance of salvation, for it is through His sacrificial death and resurrection that sin is forgiven and the relationship with God is restored. As seen in John 6:66-69, when many turned away from Him, Peter recognized that there was nowhere else to go because Christ alone has the words of eternal life. Therefore, belief in Christ is not only essential for salvation but also for experiencing the fullness of life that He offers to His followers, as highlighted in John 10:10, where He says, 'I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.'
