Why is it important for Christians to believe in Jesus as the Savior?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Jesus as the Savior is essential for accessing God's mercy and attaining eternal life.

For Christians, faith in Jesus is crucial as He is the appointed Savior for humanity. This belief acknowledges His atoning sacrifice on the cross, which satisfies divine justice and offers forgiveness for sins (Romans 3:24-26). As our high priest, He intercedes for us before the Father (Hebrews 4:14-16), making our relationship with God possible. Without faith in Christ, we remain separated from God, as John 3:18 states that whoever does not believe is condemned. Therefore, Jesus' role as Savior is foundational to the Christian faith.
