Why is it important for Christians to believe in the priesthood of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Christ's priesthood assures Christians of their access to God and the forgiveness of sins.

The priesthood of Christ is crucial for Christian faith because it assures believers that their sins are fully atoned for through His sacrifice. As Hebrews 4:14-16 states, we have a great high priest who can sympathize with our weaknesses, allowing us to approach the throne of grace with confidence. Without a mediator, there would be no access to God, as sinful humanity cannot approach Him directly. Christ's priesthood fulfills this need, providing the means through which we are reconciled with the Father, assured of forgiveness, and empowered to live holy lives before Him.
