Why is it important for Christians to desire the Word of God?

Answered in 2 sources

Desiring the Word of God is crucial for spiritual growth and sustaining eternal life as it is the means by which we are born again and nourished.

As stated in 1 Peter 2:2, Christians are called to desire the pure milk of the Word to grow in their salvation. This desire is rooted in the fact that it is through the Word that we are regenerated (1 Peter 1:23) and given eternal life. The Word is the sustenance that keeps our spiritual nature alive and thriving, while neglecting it leads to spiritual malnourishment and weakness. Therefore, maintaining a hunger for the Word reflects a healthy relationship with God and acknowledges its importance in our ongoing sanctification.
