Why is it important for Christians to guard against temptation?

Answered in 1 source

Guarding against temptation is crucial for maintaining holiness and spiritual growth.

Christians are called to live in a manner worthy of their calling (Ephesians 4:1). This includes being vigilant against temptations that can lead to sin and spiritual decline. By consciously choosing to avoid situations that may lead us into temptation, we are affirming our commitment to holiness. Furthermore, pursuing righteousness allows us to grow in our faith and deepen our relationship with God. In Galatians 5:16, Paul exhorts us to walk by the Spirit, which inherently involves avoiding the desires of the flesh that lead us away from our spiritual goals.
