Why is it important for Christians to have a mediator?

For Christians, the importance of having a mediator like Jesus stems from the doctrine of sin and the inherent separation it creates between humanity and God. The Bible teaches that 'all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23), which means that on our own merit, we cannot stand before God. Therefore, a mediator is vital to bridge that gap.
