Why is it important for Christians to have a mediator?

Answered in 1 source

Having a mediator is essential because we cannot approach God on our own due to our sinfulness.

For Christians, the importance of having a mediator like Jesus stems from the doctrine of sin and the inherent separation it creates between humanity and God. The Bible teaches that 'all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23), which means that on our own merit, we cannot stand before God. Therefore, a mediator is vital to bridge that gap. Jesus not only fulfills this role through His perfect sacrifice, but He also provides a means of grace by which believers can be reconciled to God, enabling them to grow in fellowship with Him. This underscores the necessity of relying upon His finished work rather than our own efforts.
