Why is it important for Christians to have fellowship with God?

Answered in 2 sources

Fellowship with God is crucial for believers, as it is the source of joy, strength, and spiritual growth in the Christian life.

Fellowship with God is vital for believers because it is through this relationship that we receive joy, strength, and encouragement for our spiritual journey. As John states in 1 John 1:3, our fellowship is ultimately with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. This means that true Christian community and encouragement stem from our individual relationships with God. Furthermore, in John 15:5, Jesus teaches that apart from Him, we can do nothing. Thus, our spiritual vitality and capacity to love and support one another as fellow believers hinges on our intimate union with Christ. The Holy Spirit plays an essential role in fostering this fellowship, helping us to understand and experience the fullness of God’s love and grace.
