Why is it important for Christians to have saving faith?

Answered in 1 source

Saving faith is crucial as it ensures true communion with God, leads to eternal life, and manifests in a transformed life that reflects Christ's love.

Having saving faith is of utmost importance for Christians because it determines one’s eternal destiny. John 17:3 defines eternal life as knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ—this intimate relationship starts with saving faith. Without it, one remains outside of God’s grace, merely participating in religion without true acknowledgment of Christ. Moreover, saving faith leads to a significant transformation in one’s character and behaviors, expressed through love for others as indicated in 1 John 4:7. This transformation not only pleases God but also serves as a testimony to others of Christ’s power to save and change lives. To live without saving faith is to risk being eternally separated from God, reinforcing the necessity of pursuing a genuine faith rooted in Christ.
