Why is it important for Christians to judge righteously?

Judging righteously is crucial for Christians because it exposes our tendency towards hypocrisy. As we see in the reactions of the Pharisees, those who judged by appearance often held themselves to a different standard than they imposed on others, displaying a lack of true understanding of their own hearts.
