Why is it important for Christians to know the Father and the Son?

In John 16:3, Jesus explains that the world does not know the Father nor Him, indicating that true knowledge of God is foundational to faith. This relationship provides assurance of our salvation, as seen in 1 John 5:20, which states, 'And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true.'
