Why is it important for Christians to pray humbly?

Answered in 1 source

Humble prayer acknowledges God's sovereignty and our dependence on Him (Psalm 115:1).

The practice of humble prayer is essential for Christians as it reflects the proper attitude of reverence towards God. Psalm 115:1 states, 'Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory.' This verse underscores the importance of recognizing that all glory belongs to God. When approaching God in prayer, we should do so with humility, understanding our unworthiness and the need for divine grace to assist us. Such humility does not diminish our boldness in approaching Him, as Hebrews 12 encourages us to come boldly to the throne of grace, yet it maintains a posture of reverence, acknowledging His authority and our need for His intervention in our lives.
