Why is it important for Christians to receive counsel from others?

Answered in 1 source

Receiving counsel from spiritually mature individuals helps Christians grow in understanding and avoid the pitfalls of sin (Acts 8:30-31).

Christians benefit greatly from the counsel of others who are spiritually mature and grounded in the faith. As seen in Acts 8:30-31, the Ethiopian eunuch recognized his need for guidance and requested help from Philip to understand scripture. This act of seeking counsel signifies humility and the acknowledgment that we cannot comprehend spiritual truths alone. It serves as a means for God to provide wisdom, so we can be directed toward Christ. Moreover, fellowship within the body of Christ allows believers to encourage one another, correcting errors in understanding and reinforcing the truth as articulated in Scripture.
