Why is it important for Christians to recognize Christ as their righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding Christ as our righteousness is vital because it secures our standing before God.

Christ embodies our righteousness; He was made sin for His people and, in return, has credited His perfect righteousness to them. Isaiah 54:14 teaches that believers are established in righteousness, which means they stand without fear during God’s judgment because Christ's work has already satisfied God's justice. Knowing that our righteousness is not based on our actions but on Christ’s work empowers Christians to realize they are acceptable to God through faith in His Son. This understanding frees believers from the fear of condemnation and provides peace in their hearts.
