Why is it important for Christians to recognize their identity as God's people?

Answered in 1 source

Recognizing our identity as God's people helps Christians understand their purpose, responsibilities, and the grace bestowed upon them.

Understanding oneself as part of God's chosen people is critical for a Christian's identity and mission. This concept not only assures believers of their place within God’s family but also emphasizes their obligation to live in accordance with His will. The acknowledgment of being a 'chosen generation, a royal priesthood' as stated in 1 Peter 2:9 comes with the responsibility to declare His praises and reflect His character in daily life. Such identity fosters a sense of belonging, accountability, and encourages believers to pursue holiness. Moreover, recognizing that we are spiritually described as 'Jacob' and included in the inheritance of God’s promises instills hope and motivation in the face of struggles, assuring us that we are never forsaken.
