Why is it important for Christians to recognize their spiritual sickness?

Acknowledging our spiritual sickness is the first step in realizing our need for the Great Physician. In Mark 2:17, Jesus states, 'I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.' This suggests that our awareness of sin and its implications drives us to seek Him for mercy and healing. The condition of our hearts must be recognized in order to understand the power of Christ's work in our lives. Without acknowledging our need, we cannot fully appreciate the grace offered through the gospel and the healing He brings through faith.
