Why is it important for Christians to recognize their utter dependence on God?

Answered in 1 source

Recognizing our dependence on God is vital for growing in faith and humility, as it sustains our relationship with Christ, the source of all spiritual life.

Acknowledging our utter dependence on God is central to our Christian walk. It reminds us that we are not self-sufficient and that our achievements in spiritual growth come from Christ alone. This truth cultivates humility within us, as we realize that we need to abide in Him for nourishment and strength. Furthermore, by recognizing our dependence, we are encouraged to rely on prayer and the Word for guidance and support. The believer’s life is a continuous expression of trust in Christ, drawing on His resources rather than our own. This dependence fosters a deep and growing relationship with Christ, enhancing our ability to reflect His character and to bear fruit in our lives.
