Why is it important for Christians to rely on faith rather than works?

Answered in 1 source

It's vital for Christians to rely on faith because our fleshly efforts cannot achieve righteousness or salvation.

Relying on faith rather than works is essential for Christians because, as noted in Romans 7:7-11, the law exposes our sinfulness rather than facilitates our righteousness. The tendency to turn to our works stems from our flesh, which cannot please God. Trusting in faith acknowledges that our redemption is solely a work of God’s grace, reinforcing that salvation is a gift, not earned through our efforts. It brings us to a place where we rely on Jesus, who supplies our needs and gives us strength to live in accordance with His will, rather than striving in vain under the weight of our own efforts.
