Why is it important for Christians to rely on Jesus for righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Christians must rely on Jesus for righteousness as He alone perfectly fulfills the law and provides a standing before God.

It is imperative for Christians to rely on Jesus Christ for righteousness because, according to Scripture, no one can achieve righteousness on their own. As given in Isaiah 54:14, when we are established in righteousness through Him, we find deliverance from fear and oppression. Jesus is our only means of being justified, as He fulfilled the law in our place and bore our sins. This reliance leads to true peace, whereas dependence on our own efforts results in fear and a heavy yoke, as man cannot meet God's moral demands. Ultimately, this dependence cultivates a continuous recognition of our need for Christ.
