Why is it important for Christians to rely on the Holy Spirit when witnessing?

Answered in 1 source

Relying on the Holy Spirit is essential because true conviction of sin and revelation of Christ comes through His power, not our efforts.

For Christians, the act of witnessing is not merely about presenting facts or arguments; it is about depending on the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of those we are speaking to. Jesus outlined this in John 16, emphasizing that it is the Holy Spirit who will reprove the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This reliance alleviates the burden from Christians, allowing them to share the gospel with the realization that they are co-laborers with the Holy Spirit, who is the one actively drawing men to Christ. Therefore, our task is to proclaim the truth of Scripture and trust the Spirit to work in the hearts of those who hear.
