Why is it important for Christians to see God as holy?

The holiness of God is a central theme in Scripture and is vital for a Christian's understanding of God's character. When Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, he was immediately aware of his own unclean lips and the sinfulness of his people (Isaiah 6:5). This recognition of God's holiness causes believers to humble themselves, understanding that without God’s grace, they cannot stand before Him.
