Why is it important for Christians to serve actively in their communities?

Answered in 1 source

Active service is critical for Christians as it reflects Christ's love and advances His kingdom on Earth.

Christians are called not only to worship but to actively serve their communities as a demonstration of their faith. Ephesians 2:10 teaches that we are created for good works, prepared in advance by God. By engaging in service, believers fulfill their purpose and exhibit the love of Christ to a watching world. In addition, serving provides opportunities to share the Gospel, meet needs, and uplift the marginalized. This active witness is essential for the growth of the church and the spread of the Gospel, showcasing the transformative power of salvation in practical ways. Our involvement in community work is essentially an outflowing of our faith, allowing us to be the hands and feet of Christ.
