Why is it important for Christians to set their hearts on Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Setting our hearts on Christ is essential for true communion with God and receiving His guidance in our lives.

The importance of setting our hearts on Christ is rooted in the need for concentrated devotion and affection towards Him. As stated in Psalm 27:4, we are called to desire to dwell in the house of the Lord and behold His beauty. This spiritual focus not only fosters a deeper relationship with our Savior but also positions us to receive divine instruction and guidance in our lives. Our hearts naturally gravitate towards what we treasure; therefore, by making Christ the singular object of our affections, we cultivate an environment for spiritual growth and fulfillment that transcends earthly cares and distractions. Without this focus on Christ, we risk being consumed by the fading aspects of this world.
