Why is it important for Christians to shine their light?

Shining our light as Christians serves the purpose of glorifying God in a dark world. Jesus emphasizes in Matthew 5:16 that our good works should be seen by others so they might glorify our Father in Heaven. This calling is significant because it directs attention away from ourselves and instead highlights the grace and glory of God through Christ.
