Why is it important for Christians to trust in Christ alone for righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting in Christ alone is essential for Christians because it acknowledges that only His righteousness can justify us before God.

Understanding and trusting in Christ alone for our righteousness is foundational for the Christian faith. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and our own righteous deeds cannot save us. As Isaiah 51:8 indicates, attempts to establish our own righteousness are futile, as they will ultimately perish. In contrast, the righteousness of Christ is everlasting, and when we place our faith in Him, we receive His righteousness as a garment of salvation. This reliance not only guarantees our standing with God but also provides the strength and motivation for a Christian life that is responsive to His grace.
