Why is it important for Christians to trust the written Word of God?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting the written Word is vital because it reveals God's truth and assures believers of His promises.

The written Word of God is essential for Christians because it serves as the ultimate authority in matters of faith and practice. According to Isaiah 8:20, if teachings do not align with Scripture, they are devoid of light. Furthermore, the Scripture provides assurance of salvation, guidance for living, and reveals God’s character. It also invites believers to be active participants in their faith by encouraging diligent searching of the Scriptures, as the Bereans did (Acts 17:11). This diligence reinforces our understanding and confidence in what God has communicated to us through the ages.
