Why is it important for Christians to understand the concept of mediation?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding mediation is crucial for Christians as it highlights the only way to approach God is through Jesus Christ.

Mediation is foundational to the Christian faith because it underscores our inability to approach God on our own merits due to our sinful nature. In 1 Samuel, Eli questions, 'Who shall entreat for him?' signifying the dire need for someone to stand in the place of the sinner. This need is met in Christ, our perfect mediator who paid the penalty for our sins. Christians are called to live in light of this truth, recognizing that it is through Christ’s atonement that we are justified and can commune with God. The assurance of His continual intercession reinforces the believer's security and hope, reminding us that we are never alone in our struggles.
