Why is it important for Christians to understand their need for forgiveness?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our need for forgiveness is crucial as it leads us to embrace the grace given through Christ.

Acknowledging our need for forgiveness forms the foundation of the Christian faith. As exemplified in the sermon, the woman in Luke 7 recognized her sinfulness and need for a Savior, which drew her to Christ. This realization heightens our appreciation for His grace and the cost of our redemption. When we understand that we are sinners saved by grace, we cultivate humility and love for Christ, leading to a transformative life of following Him. We see throughout Scripture that those who are forgiven much, love much (Luke 7:47), thus understanding our need fuels our devotion and obedience to the One who forgives.
