Why is it important for Christians to understand their unity with Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our unity with Christ allows us to embrace our identity as new creations and live in accordance with His desires.

The unity between Christ and His church is a foundational truth for Christians, as highlighted in Deuteronomy 24:5 and further explained in Ephesians 5. Recognizing that we are new creations in Christ means that our old nature has been replaced with a new desire to please Him. This relationship is an eternal one, where Christ's love compels us to abandon sin and seek after His righteousness. Understanding this unity helps us grow in our relationship with Him and empowers us to live according to His will, fostering a sense of community and purpose within the body of believers.
