Why is it important for Christians to understand who Christ is?

Answered in 2 sources

Understanding Christ's identity is crucial for salvation and proper worship as He is the cornerstone of Christian faith.

Understanding who Christ is directly affects how we understand salvation and our relationship with God. Jesus Himself posed the question, 'What think ye of Christ?' in Matthew 22:42 to probe the beliefs of those around Him. A proper understanding of Christ's divine and human natures is necessary to comprehend His role as our Savior. If Christ were not fully God, He could not bear the sins of humanity. If He were not fully man, He could not represent us. Therefore, our view of Christ shapes our worship and our assurance of salvation. This understanding also encourages a personal relationship with Him, as He invites us to see Him as our Redeemer and Lord.
