Why is it important for sinners to confess their sins?

Answered in 1 source

Confession of sins is vital as it leads to forgiveness and the acknowledgment of God's provision in Christ.

The act of confessing sins is a necessary step for sinners to experience God's forgiveness and justification. As outlined in the sermon, while God lays our sins upon Christ as the chosen sacrifice, it is equally important that individuals consciously acknowledge their sins and transfer them to Christ. Without this personal admission and the faith that accompanies it, one cannot benefit from the atoning work of Christ on their behalf. The Bible stresses that confession is tied to receiving mercy and forgiveness, therefore making it an essential aspect of the believer's life in Christ.
