Why is it important not to love the world?

Answered in 2 sources

Loving the world distracts from our relationship with God and hinders spiritual growth.

1 John 2:15-17 warns believers against loving the world, asserting that such love is incompatible with the love of the Father. The things of this world—its desires and pride—lead to a neglect of spiritual truths and eternal considerations. Instead, Christians are called to focus on the will of God, which brings lasting fulfillment. When believers become consumed by worldly concerns, they risk losing sight of their relationship with God and may become unprepared for Christ's return, emphasizing the call to live in the light of eternity rather than the fleeting pleasures of this life.
